By now many of you have already heard that a new DMCA Rule states that “jailbreaking” your iPhone (and other such mobile devices) is not illegal and that you can run these “unauthorized” apps legally:

Owners of the iPhone will be able to legally unlock their devices so they can run software applications that haven’t been approved by Apple Inc., according to new government rules announced Monday.

Whoot!

As one friend jokingly mentioned the other day:

Yes! I’m no longer living in sin!

I found this hilarious but at the same time intriguing, for a number of different reasons.

What’s your take?

Sin apparently doesn’t have any issues (or challenges) with the varying different devices or mediums that we choose to use to consume content.

It just makes sense then that people and businesses begin to explore the use of mobile technology for pornography. As one such report states:

It’s a maxim of technology: Invent the newest gadget and the porn industry will find a way to cash in.

So when Apple Inc. launched the iPhone 4 and its FaceTime videoconference feature, it didn’t take long for adult-entertainment companies to develop video-sex chat services and start hiring workers through Craigslist.

This is an unfortunate opportunity that some cash in on. One such owner of a adult entertainment company said the following:

I’m digging the fact that conferences organizers are taking the time to create mobile applications for their events. I think this provides (when done well) some serious value to those that are at the conference and even for those that can’t make it.

ECHO Conference, which is happening this week, has a mobile app that has speaker information, breakouts, and even maps of the facility.

I’m not sure if you’re a fan of audio bibles but I’ve had a few myself during the long drives between college and home years ago. I haven’t listened to them since (in fact, I’m not even sure where they are).

But perhaps it’s because I don’t have a tape-deck anymore (what are those again?), and what I need is one for my iPhone.
