GPS has really revolutionized travel. A couple of decades ago, we had to plan our trip, print off maps, then bring them with us. Now, we get in the car, punch in the address, and start driving before we even really know the full route.
It’s a great solution for getting from point A to point B even if the route takes you through some where like, oh I dunno, the Death Star trench.
The platform that you use for blogging can speak a lot about your personality. For example, they say that WordPress is for serious (or those that wannabe serious) bloggers, BlogSpot is for beginners and soccer moms, and Tumblr is for the lazy.
At this point in time, it’s relatively easy to blog on the go. Web-based interfaces or full-on mobile applications make it as easy as they can given the screen constraints.
And up until this point, our lazy Android-based Tumblin’ friends were left out in the cold, but not any more…
Between texting, Facebook, Twitter, Buzz (okay, so maybe not ;)), Yammer, IM’s, and chat, even the most introverted among us have become social at least to some degree.
In fact, entire applications have been developed that help to streamline the whole social media thing. But many of us use our phones for communicating even more than our computers. This explains the ever-growing selection of mobile communication apps.
And so it is no surprise that one of the premiere desktop twitter clients, TweetDeck, has just announced a beta preview version for Android.
There’s an app for that!
I have a reputation for being a little bit on the clumsy side. Sometimes when I’m walking and texting texting, I run into things (or people) accidentally and it’s not a pretty sight.

If we put aside preferences for Apple or Google for a couple of minutes, we can get a great perspective of not only two companies’ strategies in the mobile market, but we can learn about how we build our ministries.
A close observation of iOS devices such as the iPhone, iPod Touch, or iPad and Android devices (too numerous to list), reveals distinctly different strategies. The two companies, Apple and Google, have similar target audiences, yet very different approaches to how to get their Operating System into users’ hands and in turn get the users’ money into their pockets. What is even more telling is that the strategies not only reflect the way things have happened in the past (the way Windows spread to many machines), but they also reflect some strategies prevalent in the modern Christian church.
