We are seriously blessed. I mean, consider this: We (software developers) live in a period of time where we can do our work literally anywhere.
I spent most of my weekend in transit and I spent a large portion of it in the air and yet I had complete access to my files, servers, and my team remotely. I could not only code (and do the occasional design in Photoshop) but manage and communicate with my team as if I was on the ground.
This may not initially impress you, but in light of the fact that we couldn’t really do this until the last year or so ago is mind-boggling.
I seriously feel blessed and can’t believe I get to live in a technological era that allows this level of freedom and flexibility, with near-maximum effectiveness!
What has awe-inspired you lately? Perhaps another question might be this: What have you taken for granted recently in terms of technology?

I was sitting with my grandmother yesterday and thinking about the cultural change that has occurred in the last 15 years because of cell phones. Almost no one had a cell much more than 15 years ago but it is had to find anyone that does not have one now. And 25% of households only have cell phones. This is the root of the telecomuting and mobile workforce. I can go to the park with my girls in the middle of the day because I know that if someone needs me I can be reached. I can go to the beach for a week without really taking a week off because I can still work. Lots of negatives associated with always on, but lots of positives.
