When you make a video for your ministry, business, or blog, you need to have the right camera for the right job. Remember that the quality of your video can never get any better than the raw footage that you actually shot.
Here are the camera that we discuss in the video above:
What kind of cameras do you use and what kind of films have you produced?

I have tried all three.
I made this video with my iPhone to recap a youth event we had:

I wish I used a better camera but I didn’t think about it as we were preparing for this event.
We shot this using the Nikon:

I shot this using a Canon T2i Similar to the T3i:

One more for your consideration is the GoPro. These things are handy and fun. Middle range between The Nikon and the T3i

Everything was edited on iMovie except the shot on the T2i which was on Final Cut.

For vlogging on the go my wife and I usually do use our Androids. Like you mentioned with a back cam that is 8 MP and front cam that is 5 MP it takes relatively good quality video and it is always with us. Before we were both packing smartphones we got a bloggie camera when we had an event coming up and we knew we needed a cam. It can do HD video and 12 MP pics and we still use it sometimes. For most of the I’m sitting at my computer vlogs (including the time that I did a vlog for this site) I use a Logitech C910 or C920 depending on which one I have on hand. Not only can this support full HD, but it is nice to have if you find yourself needing to have a proper boardroom-style meeting with people on the other side of the country or world. Just put the cam on top of a big screen tv (or if you have a projector then on top of your computer below where the projector projects) point it at the boardroom table, and go on with your meeting.. Since it is HD the person on the other end can see everyone fairly well, and if you have this set up at the end of the boardroom table, people can interact with them almost as if they are there. But I digress.
For more professional Cru videos we have some full size very expensive professional quality cameras and lighting that we use.

Do the requirements of manual focus or high-power zoom ever become a need for you that you would need to switch?
Steve Steiner says
Well, it is all a matter of context. The Bloggie offers limited zoom, and sometimes I am willing to sacrifice a bit on quality on my phone to get some “zoom.” In my context however, it is all adding value to what I am doing for ministry partners. I am typically not doing anything for which the need for zoom is great enough to justify the cost.
This would be completely different if it was larger scale productions, then I would probably pull out the Cru toys.
