Keynote on iPhone
In this article, we are again going to review an iPhone app that would help you in your church media ministry. This app is called Keynote. The reason that we are using Keynote on an iPhone is to keep the cost low and at the same time do some amazing stuff with it. So first of all, Keynote is the equivalent of Powerpoint for the PC users. Except it’s better. And if you have an iPhone, Keynote is what you’re gonna use.
Making Slide Presentations with Keynote
With Keynote, there are a lot of different template presentations that you can choose from. But if you’re working with projectors with low brightness on it in your church, a black background is what we suggest because it will work better with projectors that don’t have a lot of brightness on the screen. Next thing you want to do with your slide presentation is put up a picture. There are several ways of adding picture into your camera roll. One is taking a picture with your iPhone and the other is grabbing a picture from the internet. Another thing you can do on Keynote once you have chosen the picture is resize it and move it to the center f the screen. There will be little yellow lines that would show you exactly where the center is. Last thing you want to add to your slide is a title. Naturally, you will think of a title that has something to do with your picture.
Making Announcements with Keynote
Now, if you were making an announcement. You would select a template presentation that would allow you to put a picture, a title, and some texts on the side of it. Then, you can do the same things like resizing the picture, adding a title, and add some content. Now let me tell you something about transitions and this just my opinion, one of the things that I kind of run across with is that the people that go crazy on transitions automatically tells me that they are amateur, that’s what it tells me. I’m not a big fan of big old transitions and stuff like that. Simple is better. But there are different times that you can use transitions and in announcements, we don’t really transitions that one text in and out.
We might wanna have it go from slide to slide but not transitions. One example of a perfect time to use transitions is when your pastor wants to show one point in a time during his sermon or message. Keynote has a lot of different animation templates that you can choose from and play with. But let me warn you once again,, if you put these transitions , it’s a little amateurish, I’ll just tell you that right now. It may be fun the first Sunday, but after that, what we suggest is just put in a fade in and fade out as your transition.
Exporting Your Slide Presentations
One more thing that I want to share with you is how you can show your presentations in your church. You can either use an Apple TV straight form your phone or you can move it to yourcomputer where you have a ProPresenter or Easy Worship.
What I do in our church is build my presentation here in my iPhone because I can do it on my spare time and make them real easy and then I can move it straight to my computer. There are a lot of options for exporting your presentations. You can either E-mail presentation, you can print it, you can sent to iTunes, you can copy to iDisk, or copy to WebDAV.
Conclusion
So Keynote is a great app that you can utilize with your iPhone for making sermon slides for your pastor during church service, for making announcements for upcoming church activities, and also for simple slide presentations that you want to show in your church. It’s easy because you would be doing it in your phone and also help you cut cost with your budget.
