We’re getting “smarter,” but it’s not because of who we are or what we can do but rather the tools that we’re employing to solicit, gather, and leverage information, and the tools that leverage our extended social networks the most are going to be the ones that change the way we live.
Aardvark is one such tool that provides a great example of how best this can be done. With Aardvark’s new Twitter integration one can now “ask” any question you’d like and get a response in Twitter.
Take a look at how this works here:
Just add @vark to your tweet:
- Just include ‘@vark’ and a question mark (’?’) in your tweet
- Aardvark will find the perfect person to answer, and Direct Message you their response in a few minutes
How are the tools that you’re using leveraging (or extending) your existing social network? Take it one step further, if you’d like, and think about how we can leverage this effectively for the Church…

It was here at Church Crunch that I learned about Aardvark's Google chat integration and signed up. It's really great. I have only answered questions and people have been very receptive. I have asked my first question actually just a few minutes ago. I'll report back what kind of response I get. It will be really interesting to see how it works with Twitter.

Well the response I got was less than stellar. I was asking about an upgrade on my Nikon from the D70 to the D90 because of the D90's supposed better image quality at higher ISO's. Wanted to see if anybody had done any comparisons. I got back a, "Go to the store and ask to see one" response. Oh well. Maybe I will have better luck next time.

… OUCH!

I am a bit annoyed that aardvark only seems to ask me questions about things that are not on my list. In the last couple days I have been asked about toys, cameras, sleep, sports teams, etc. I did look at a question about marriage and it was actually about a business merger. I am about ready to cancel.

yeah, it's not perfect. i think it'll get better as more people adopt… but it's kind of a killer loop that's going on…
