jQuery 1.5 Beta 1 was recently released and marks a couple of significant dates in jQuery’s history.
First, jQuery officially turned five years old on January 14th (that’s practically an adult in Internet-time). Secondly, this means that the team is aiming for a new version of the library by the end of the month.
Some of the major new functionality includes:
- Major rewrite of the Ajax module
- Subclassing now available
- fadeIn now working properly with inline elements
- Memory leak issues in IE8 now fixed
- Cross-browser XML parsing
- Browse the full list at the beta’s release page
Don’t forget, you can grab a copy of the library from here.
I admire the team – they move fast and ship good stuff. Love that.
