If we as developers have a hard time using our tools, it can never be said that it’s not from lack of options.
Yes, we’re all particular about what we use to write code – perhaps it’s a heavy IDE such as Visual Studio or Eclipse or it’s something more lightweight such as TextMate or vi – but there are always alternative utilities available for us.

jEdit has been around for a while. I actually remember trying it out during my first semester of college. It’s an open-source, cross-platform code editor. It’s got support for variety of languages, markers, selection, short cuts, and more.
It’s nice to see that this application is still being developed – I think there’s something to be said for small, open-source projects that continue to be improved overtime.
