This question is largely subjective but I thought I’d pose it here since I was generally curious what you guys thought.
What considers a blog “spammy” from your perspective? Is it content, frequency, length of post, design, advertising, features, functionality sets, etc?
Apparently one of the best things that happened last year (and a trend continuing) is that “spam” is being reduced. Now this, of course, is from an email-perspective.
But, in it’s place perhaps is the fact that more and more people are blogging, and the more people that are blogging the more “spam” bloggers and blogs are being created.
I was once told that I was a “spammy” blogger. Ouch.
All I’m trying to do is educate and provide value. Is that what you’re doing or are you adding to the “spam”?
What do you think?

I suppose a blog that has a pretty narrow focus might be seen as 'spammy' but the content is what matters. Your content sometimes is repetitive in theme, but that doesn't affect the overall value of what is delivered. You may use the term "social media" quite a bit (and there's this really smart guy I've been meeting with Saturday mornings explaining the reasoning behind this) but the context in which you use it is different because "social media" has such a wide scope.
I hope that makes sense.

Yeah. In fact, I'm pretty much over the term “social media” since I don't think it adequately explains a lot.

I really only consider blog posts as "spammy" when there is a constant flow of regurgitated content from other blogs.

there's a lot of regurgitated content….!

A bit difficult and as you say subjective because spam by it's very nature is intrusive, however a blog can never be intrusive since the reader make the choice to visit, read and comment.
I do believe that a blog can be a regurgitation of un-original content in the form of blogging stuff that has been blogged about in numerous places – re-blogging anyone? Or that it can be a jumble of content to match current hot trends for the sake of page hits. Those can be considered 'spam blogs'.
But not if the content is well thought out and presented – like ChurchCrunch, whawhoo!

i like to regurgitate.
😉 thanks phil!
