It’s called the Square Stand and they are calling it “the register reinvented.”
This looks like something you would see in a Sci-Fi film!
The Square Stand claims it’s the easiest way to run your business, but could it be used to easily collect Sunday morning tithing as more and more people are going mobile?

Here’s how it works:

I could see this being used in a lot of different ways. It’s so portable!

Could you see this being used in your church?

As attractive as this might be (and trust me, it’s attractive), the swipe-to-tithe thing is lacking in some ways for the liturgical/traditional church. You’ve got to have something to put in the plate.

I could see the cultural shift changing that perspective as e-payment dominates more and more, though.

I suspect in another 10-15 years time that these systems and NFC systems will almost entirely replace cash.
Cash will always be around but it’s every day usage is diminishing and being able to support those who dio not wish to carry cash is essential.

Not sure I like the idea of a cut going to the creator each time it’s used, especially with a tithe where I could drop into a collection plate or sort out a direct debit.
Personally, I think this might be a case of a solution looking for a problem (can definietly see it’s application in a business place) But it is amazing the extra accessories and systems that can hook up to an iPad to form your checkout.
Eric Dye says
Good points, Chris. The cut going to a creator when tithing, does feel a little sticky.
Mark Robinson says
One could create a charity/church specific one that could be a premium app with ads built in.
Eric Dye says
Yeah, I think the market and future growth in this area is huge, right now.
