iPad’s are a great way to setup a kiosk. You can place them in your Church entree-way and visitor center, as well as your Sunday School and nursery check-in.
With nClosures’ iPad Kiosk Enclosures and Mounts you can do it safely, securely, and easily!
These enclosures are made from aircraft-grade aluminum and come in both a natural aluminum finish or matte black. Each enclosure comes with its own tubular locking screw, and also has a place for an additional lock for extra security. Between two locks and aircraft-grade aluminum, you can bet that your kiosk iPad will be safe and secure.
If you’re worried about the radio signal, don’t be. The aluminum enclosure won’t hinder your wifi, Bluetooth or 3G signal. As for keeping the iPad powered, there is a cutout in the back for the power cord connection.
If you want to get really fancy, nClosure provide services for custom colors, laser etching, silk screening and more. They can also aid you with custom mounting solutions if the standard mount isn’t working for you.
Here’s a video of it applied at a museum (love the music):
The enclosures are priced at $169 each.

I love the idea of adding the case so that users can’t hit the home button; locking them into your app. The only problem is that you can never upgrade these iPads to iOS 5 because then users can use the five finger pinch to go to the home screen and then they’re playing angry birds instead of learning how wide the circumference of the earth is.

I’m sure there’s some kind of work-around.

We visited the George HW Bush Library/Museum in College Station recently and they had a number of computer kiosks around the museum — but in a new exhibit focusing on women’s health the were using iPads and an iBook as their info kiosks. Visitors could simply scroll through the information in a book format and then jump from content to content with ease.
I thought it was a great use of technology.
I’m not sure it was as secure as these cases are but they had a “pretty” frame built around them to cover the home button and to keep them at least “semi” secure.

Nice!
