Living overseas, I can tell you that social media and video chat can make your world much smaller.
Not too long ago, overseas telephone calls were on the pricey side, and now, you can hang-out with friends face-to-face online!
Don’t get me wrong, it’s not exactly like being somewhere in the flesh, but as I regularly attend my U.S. Church’s early morning men’s Bible study every week from Italy, I can tell you it’s the next best thing to it!
Check-out how these people used modern technology:

Very cool! My house group has done it phone/speakerphone (old school!) but this is the next level!

Very cool! We have had two weddings at our church this summer where a friend could not make it because she is teaching in Japan. She was so excited when our church got Internet back in the spring because they were able to setup a webcam to point towards the stage and have a Skype call during the ceremony. Even though it was 3am her time, she still got dressed up and participated. We were able to switch to Skype on the iPhone and she was able to see the bride and groom drive away.
These are the times when we have to give to thumbs up for technology!

I was able to watch an awesome friend of mine get married via Skype, too! It was so much better than photos, for sure!
Chris Ames says
Absolutely.

Just a matter of time before two people get married via iPad… who needs to be AT the wedding anymore??
