If you use Google Sync to keep your iOS’ native mail and calendar apps in sync with your Gmail, Calendar and Contacts, you’ll be happy to hear there have been some improvements.
If you are not using Google Sync, you should be!
The updates include a deeper search, iOS calendar event control, and control over which email address you’re sending them from.
Gmail Search
Now you can search all your emails in Gmail, not just the emails that are sitting on your iOS mail app. I’m not sure why this feature wasn’t there in the first place, but it is certainly welcomed!
Calendar Control
Before, the calendar was more of an FYI. Now, you can accept, decline or edit calendar events from your iOS calendar app. Now we’re playing with power! This certainly gives you the control you want with a calendar sync.
Sending From?
Multiple email addresses is a way of life. You have work, personal, and maybe even your blog, freelance website, or small business address. Having more than one is certainly not a stretch, nor is having all your mail funnel into your one Gmail account.
Gmail’s “Send Mail as” feature lets you send messages with another email address listed as the sender instead of your Gmail address, e.g. [email protected] instead of [email protected]. Now the iOS mail app will respect these settings.
Thank you, Google Mobile.
These three updates are available for both Gmail and Google Apps email accounts.

So if you’ve already got an Exchange account set up, this is automatically updated right?
