A lot has changed in the past 25 years within the church. Churches are developing their brand and implementing marketing strategies to get more people into the Church.
There has been a debate whether or not it is Biblical, yet the Bible does say in Matthew 28:19-20:
“Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you.”
I personally think that every church needs to develop their brand in the community, as each community has a different set of demographics.
Churches and ministries are trying to be relevant to the community by various forms of media in order to keep up.
The problem that I have, is that some churches seem to have an old school mind set in terms of how a church should market themselves. It’s not about trying to be the coolest church on the block, but rather a church of influence in the community. Church marketing and the brand of the church should be to strengthen the influence of the ministry to bring about change for God’s glory.
Whether it be through social media or other digital media technology, churches need to learn and adapt in order to stay relevant.
I would love to hear your thoughts on church marketing?
