This past April 1st, ThinkGeek fooled us with the iPad iCADE. It was a very cool concept. Install some retro arcade games on your iPad, slide it into this retro mini-cabinet, and you could almost feel quarters in your pocket and the smell of pizza in the air. Unfortunately, it wasn’t real.
Until, now:
For about $100, you can order your iCADE from ThinkGeek!
- Beautifully retro-styled tabletop arcade cabinet.
- iPad connects to the iCADE controls via Bluetooth.
- “Atari Greatest Hits” iPad App ready to go with the iCADE, including support for over 100 classic Atari games.
- API to be released later allowing any iOS developer to create iCADE-compatible games.
- Compatible with both the original iPad and iPad 2
Oh, yeah:
ThinkGeek is currently taking pre-orders, and look to begin shipping June 9th.
