I’ll admit. I created email addresses for my daughter once we had “landed” on a name; she wasn’t even born yet!
Now, how soon will I let her use it or create her own is another question…

Well my 2 year old already uses mine and wifey’s iPhone to watch videos on Youtube in the morning (we have no TV).
With my parents living in another country, I’m happy for her to use email to keep in touch, I’ll actively encourage her but comes with the proviso that it’s monitored.

I also created e-mail addresses for both my kids when they were born, although it was really just for joke purposes. My oldest is 6; I don’t know when exactly I’ll let him use it, but for now, the answer is “Not yet.”

Wife and I have already searched through gmail to see if we can get our preferred names for our – unborn & not-yet-conceived children.

Maybe when our kid is 16 and I’m still a youth pastor – I’ll give him an email address instead of a car.

This made me laugh out loud, BUT I totally agree. No email address needed until at least 16.

What about babies on facebook? I’m amazed at the number of my friends who have facebook accounts for their babies, where they can post and tag photos. I suppose these kids will ‘take over’ these accounts themselves as they get older…

I find that just a little bizarre – one of my distant cousins has done this and he updates it with stuff like “daddy loves you” and then he logs on as the child and answers back …!
