At first blush, HTML5 looks constrictive, but in actuality, it simply has more structure. That’s why it’s important to begin familiarizing yourself with that structure, now, before you find yourself behind the curve.

Web Designer Depot nailed down an excellent article on how to code an HTML5 template. It starts with going over some of the history and reasoning behind HTML5, which is nice, and by the time you’re finished, you’re going to have a basic, but complete, HTML5 template.
What I liked the most about the tutorial, is it wasn’t a copy and paste piece. Dain Miller explains each of the elements, so when you’re finished, you understand what’s going on.
Go check it out, you’ll be glad you did it. You’ll be smarter in the end and you’ll be anxious to plugin your WordPress or any other flavor you like.
