I dunno man. My Windows machine at work seems like it’s tanking fast, but my Mac at home has been humming along for around 5 years now and still can get the job done (and I hope it keeps going!). I feel like I’m hard on both, but definitely harder on my home one. If you ask me, it’s the hardware.
Eric Dye says
Apple’s hardware is usually first-rate, that’s for sure.

Mine situation is very much the other way. I beat the snot out of my Windows work machine, as in I demand a lot from it. At home, my PC just died after nearly 10 years and I worked that thing into the ground; it’s only the power supply. The Mac Book that has been issued to me by the church is 4 years old, the left arrow on the keyboard just stopped working, Firefox takes 15 seconds to launch, it never crashes but does lock up for 15 to 20 seconds at a time.
Maybe the problem I have is that I have no clue what I can do with a Mac beyond the internet and office programs.
I would think that comic is true on a cost basis only. Had I spent money on a Mac vs. my PC, I would put a lot more care into protecting that investment. Since, you know, I can buy parts for 3 or so PCs for the price of 1 new 15″ Mac Book Pro.

For me, I’m in music and audio. That’s the reason I first switched. The old line is that Mac is for creatives and Windows is for business people. It’s blurring now, but I think that holds still mostly.
Eric Dye says
True, true.

So I know I’m commenting super late on this post, but I think the reason this happens (cause I think it does), is because there is a certain elitism that comes with owning a Mac. Why? Cause they are really expensive, beautifully made, and they are one-of-a-kind. No other notebook looks like it.
Eric Dye says
True.
