At the bank. At the pharmacy. At the hospital.
There are many times you have to speak in public about personal and private information. Usually many of these places do a good job at creating a private space to communicate sensitive matters, as not to broadcast the details of your personal life to the entire world.
Yamaha, however, has announced a new device that aids in keeping conversation more confidential.
The VSP-1 noise generator. It’s a small speaker that masks speech frequencies in any desired direction.
The VSP-1 plays eight specially tuned ambient noise recordings from the seaside, forest, or river. In tests, it was found to mask between 47-89% percent of conversations in four Japanese pharmacies while customers on the other side of the sound wall enjoyed the ambient noises.
Available this April, I don’t think you’ll see many of these being used in most business, since you’ll have to cough up $1,267 per box.
Yikes!
The price of privacy.
