There’s something dangerous about being a web developer and it’s this: You’re expected to know everything about software development and servers, hosting, etc.
But this isn’t always the case. Sometimes we’re really just a web designer with a little developer-like tendencies. And for many designers, they just need a CMS for their work that enables them to keep on designing and not dipping their toes into too much development.
This CMS looks pretty promising:
HiFi CMS seeks to do just that:
HiFi is a ground-breaking content management platform. Design beautiful websites with web standards and zero design constraints.
Give your users easy-to-use tools to manage every aspect of their website. Don’t waste time learning templating languages, setting up servers, or training users; HiFi solves these problems out of the box.
Sounds like a worthy try, right? Check out their overview video:

Definitely see the potential for non-web-savvy users to quickly and easily develop/maintain much more aesthetically pleasing sites without having to worry about butchering the code or design. I’m interested to see what they charge once they’re out of Beta.
Clay Schossow says
@Craig We’re going to be posting our Pricing page very soon, as the Beta phase is just about over. We have the pricing currently set at $49/month/site. We also have a $29/month freelancer/personal option for designers and developers to use on their own site. As John notes in the article, that pricing covers the system, configured server, daily backup, and a lot more.

John – Thanks for the write up! We’re really excited about HiFi and think it is a perfect fit for a lot of folks out there who want to focus on designing great sites and not get too overwhelmed in developing them.
Would love to hear any other thoughts people may have!
