With uQR.me you can get a personal QR code and there are only a handful of slots left to be “founders.”
Now, I’m not exactly sure what that means, but I got one anyway:
uQR.me is a free social utility designed to share web content with the real world, letting you turn just about anything into a link: a wall, a tree, a shop window, a t-shirt, a pin, a concert poster, a wine bottle, a business card, your own body, the sky’s the limit…
uQR.me enables you to connect your online life to the actual one, expanding your horizons, broadening your networks and getting your word out.
As you can see I’ve got one:
So go get one and then figure out what you’re going to do with it.
It would be cool to have QR codes for organizations, even your ministry or church!
Here’s how it works:

Got mine and one for my church. We’ll see what we can do with them.

A QR code is just a 2d “bar code” that translates into a URL or other text. The algorithm for generating the QR code is standardized, so you can generate a QR code yourself or use any free generator online to link to any website you want.
If you want a QR code, just google generate qr code and pick one. Type in a URL and get an instant code. No need to sign up for anything.
uQR.me looks like just another Facebook/LinkedIn wannabe with the added gimmick of generating a QR code for you automatically.
Maybe I’m missing something?

Hi! The difference with generating a QR on some random website and using http://www.uqr.me is that you can manage your QR on the site…Basically that ONE QR that you generate on uqr.me can be changed as many times as you want via de website. So for example you can print the QR on your business cards and then if you change your phone number (for example) all you have to do is go on the website and change it..no need to reprint your cards. Hope that helps!

Hello everybody, and thank you for joining uQR.me and sharing info about our project. It’s great to see how many different things real users do with their virtual IDs on uQR.me. Feel free to ask us anything about the service at support(at)uqr.me or on twitter.com/uqrme
@Ben when you create a code with a basic QR generator, you’ll not be able to change the content of that QR. Never. uQR.me, on the contrary, allows you to manage, change, update the content of your personal QR (or virtual ID) any time you want. If you embed your contact info (with a vCard for instance) in your business card with a uQR.me code, you can remotely replace your old mobile number with the new one without changing the code (and, most important, without reprinting your business cards…). And this is just an example.
uQR.me is not exactly a social network, by the way. It’s rather a social utility. And a qr-based community.

Thanks for explanation. I guess I can see how linking a QR code to a vCard file is unique. However, the benefit of not having to reprint business cards is only true if the only thing you have printed on your card is the QR. If you have any human-readable information on there, then you will need to reprint the business card when you change your info anyway, even if the QR code doesn’t change.
uQR.me says
Yes, Ben, unless you just have your name and a qr on your cards…
Anyway, uQR.me it’s not about vCards only. It’s more about switching from one content to another any time you need, with a unique, updatable code.
Just think about eBay auctions promoted in the street, or restaurants’ dishes of the day uploaded daily in their qrs…

Set up mine today. Attached a tester “easter egg” to it on my DBC Theme spot at infinitlove.com/jonathanesterman. Curious to see the response.
John – you may like the customizing I’ve done to the theme you released a short while ago…added some more networks to it. 🙂
