I’ve really enjoyed Google Voice so far and some of the features and functionalities that are available.
But, I will say that the automated transcription service is still, hands down, the weakest part of the service. It does though provide some pretty entertaining messages at times.
For example, I got this the other day and I LOL’d really hard:
I think it was the “crap like coffee” that did it for me.
*sigh*
Still something to be desired I suppose.
I’m not complaining though. I still have to remember that I have little to complain about when the services that I use are zero cost to me.
Which, by the way, is a fascinating thing to think about in and of itself: Why do people feel like they have the right to complain about web technology that doesn’t cost them a single penny?
Pretty odd if you ask me.
So, even though Google Voice still needs some work in terms of its transcription services I am very thankful.
Thanks Google. You entertain me a lot.

Google Voice’s transcriptions make for amusing reading. One time I had a person call me. Her name is Nancy Colatasti. Google transcribed it, “Hi, it’s Nancy. It’s a hostage.” Hilarious.

That’s not a faulty transcription – that was the actual voicemail I left you..

“Free” is rarely “zero cost” to you. You just have to follow the convoluted chain further to figure out how you’re being charged for it. 😉
