This is cool: In honor of Octocat Wednesday, the guys over at GitHub are offering a free micro plan for one month.
So what does this mean exactly?
GitHub is a version control hosting website that uses the Git control system. The site offers free plans but all respositories must be made public.
But with a free, micro plan you get:
- Five private repositories
- One private collaborator
- Unlimited public collaborators
Note that this is free only for a month, so it works well as a way to explore the paid side of the platform without actually having to pay :).
If you’ve got an account, sign in to redeem the coupon. Otherwise, create a coupon and you’re all set!
Any of you taking advantage of this?

When I first read your post, I thought that GitHub was offering the plan for free permanently if you signed up for it within the next month. It sounded interesting, but now I see that it’s only free for a month. Then you have to pay the regular price of $7 a month to keep it going. So I think I’ll pass.
