Here’s an app that will literally force you to stop browsing so you can actually get to work!
Enter Freedom, a paid application that will shut off access to the internet on your local machine available for both Mac and Windows.
It’ll stop access anywhere from 15 minutes to 8 hours!
I tried the demo version and put it on for 15 minutes. I then wanted to get back and couldn’t – my internet connection was down.
Dang! I had to search through their “Read Me” file to get it back up before the 15 minutes were over. Apparently the only way you can do this is restarting the computer.
Is it effective? Yes. Need it? Eh…
Get a copy of it here if you’re interested.

I think with so much work stuff done online in the cloud, this is defeating the purpose of getting to work. I know a couple very small companies who do all of their stuff online so this would leave them, and other businesses who’ve adopted the cloud to the fullest extent, not working but instead playing solitaire. That is unless it has a way to black access to all sites other than a few specified for that period of time.

I can see this being very useful for some people. Only problem is my Mac reboots super fast so if I was feeling naughty it would be a quick reboot to get my internet back up again 🙂
