Wow.
This is pretty ridiculous.
Apparently there’s a “service” that allows you to “buy” a bunch of IT Certifications without the need to take an exam.
Check this out:
Unbelievable.
The site, BuyITCert.com, has captured my attention ever since Andy sent me the link.
Pretty messed up if you ask me. People will do anything to get the “paper” without the “work”…
Now I’m just looking for the M.Div and TH.M. online service so that I can graduate without having to write another paper…
I will admit that I did have this thought: The “qualifications” to work in ministry can be an interesting topic of conversation, spanning pretty much all of theopraxis.
Yum.

I have been taught for over 10 years that a certification is just a piece of paper that says you are capable of learning said material and in no way do they actually represent a persons real knowledge or are they a replacement for experience. When companies start caring more about the papers you can show them then actually backing up what you claim to know there are some issues and this “solution” could help re-instate the balance of real world experience over book smarts. And at the price listed of 4k for MCSE and MCITP it can potentially cost less than the materials, the courses and the exam all put together, especially when you consider time invested.
However, I don’t agree with this type of service and to me the website screams scam. The grammar is simply atrocious and on par with the rich-Nigerian-prince-wants-you-to-hold-his-money e-mails.

100% agreed with Ben.
My local college will do the Cisco CCNA course for £600. The exam is then £140 (last I checked). Then let’s stretch the dollar to pound conversion to 2:1 that makes $1480 yet this site wants $1600 for teh CCNA.
There again I could just buy a few books and a test or two for £200 or so.
The site makes me giggle as it has a “Prevent Fraud” and “Guarantee” section.

Has anyone heard of Firebrand Training? I’ve just read one of the best things in my entire life: Accelerated Learning.
