Flipboard has become an interesting combination of both a visually attractive reader and a curator of great content for iPad and iPhone (and now also for Android, but I’ll use the iPad version as an example throughout these posts). If you’re not using Flipboard already, it’s high time you started doing so.
In this Ultimate Guide to Becoming a Flipboard Pro, we’ll show you exactly how to set up a Flipboard account, find content, connect with your other social media and create your own Flipboard Magazines.
Let’s starts with the basics of setting up a Flipboard account.
Setting Up Flipboard
Start by downloading the Flipboard app on your iPad or iPhone via the App Store, which is free. If you already have an account, you can sign in by tapping ‘Existing account?’. If you don’t, swipe the ‘Flip’ button.
It will bring you to this screen:
Tap ‘Flipboard account’ which will bring a new screen, where you tap ‘Create’.
You can signup with Facebook, or create a username. You’ll also need an email address, a password and you can upload a photo or choose one from social media you’re already on.
Adding Social Media Accounts
Once you’re signed up, you can add existing accounts to access their feeds. I’ve added Facebook, Twitter, Google +, LinkedIn and YouTube for instance. You also see my Google Reader feed is still there, but more about that later. Instagram and Flickr are also supported and more are on their way no doubt.
To add accounts, just tap on Accounts (if you can’t see the accounts menu, tap on the red bookmark thingy in the right upper corner) and tap on the ones you want to add. Flipboard will ask for access, passwords, etc. Once you’ve connected all your accounts, you have access to all your feeds in one place. Mind you, it doesn’t always look as pretty as on the original site, but it’s there nonetheless.
Let’s take Twitter for example. If I tap my Twitter account under ‘Accounts’ (accessible via the red bookmark in the right upper corner), I can access my timeline, all the links on my timeline (quite a handy thing actually), my own tweets, etc. This works in a similar way for all social media you connect Flipboard to.
That’s it, you’re all set to start flipping! In the next post we’ll show how to find great content via Flipboard, which is a little different than on many other readers and social media.
Are you using Flipboard already?
If you’re not, you can download it here.
If so, what do you like and dislike about it?

You forgot the most important thing, which every tutorial on flipboard is missing as well, and that is, how to add tiles to flipboard in the first place? It seems like the current version of the app on Android doesn’t have any functionality to let you add anything. I have the ones I added years ago on my iPad, but now I have an android tablet and there is no option to add, I can only remove tiles.
