Earlier this week, we covered an infographic on whether or not IE9 can be considered a modern browser (at least compared to Firefox).
As much as I applaud the IE9 team for this particular version of the browser, I still can’t say I’m content with the browser. But it’s important to remember that the average user that views or uses our sites an applications do not care (let alone know the difference).
But I digress.
Faruk Ates has a nice write up in which he discusses what exactly constitutes a modern browser anyway. He covers the following points:
- Successfully rendering a site
- Browser Testing
- Functionality of base features
- No hacks
- Performance
It’s a lengthy, well-thought out article that any web developer or engineer focused in the web field should read.
