Copy and pasting is a huge time saver for sure, but sometimes you need more then the last item copied.
ClipMenu is a free solution for the mac. I have tried out a few other apps (and even paid for a few) and found nothing as simple and useful as ClipMenu.
Check it out…
Unlimited Clipboard History Items
You can adjust the number of clipboard history items freely, if you have sufficient memory in your Mac. The default value is 20.
Multiple Clipboard Types
ClipMenu can record clipboard history in the following clipboard types:
- Plain text
- Rich Text Format (RTF)
- Rich Text Format Directory (RTFD)
- Filenames
- URL
- TIFF image
- PICT image
Show Images in the Menu
If you record image types to clipboard history, ClipMenu can show pieces of the images in the menu. The image’s width and height is adjustable.
So whether its copying different email address’s, working with different snippets of code, or holding on to different images in your design ClipMenu is a must have app to add to your workflow.

I know Macs are cool, but would anyone on the 8Bit team care to recommend something similar for Windows & Linux?

I looked up a few windows like apps and came across a few.. but I was not able to test them out since I don’t have a windows machine.. so I didn’t want to recommend something.

doesn’t Microsoft support that feature. Even if you just have OutLook – but only for certain file types. Press Control C twice while in a message, then you can interact with the Clipboard manager. Not very comprehensive.

I know I’m a little late in saying this, but thank you so much for posting this! I’ve been using it now since you wrote about it and I’m LOVING IT!!! It’s really helped me a lot in my workflow. Great stuff!!!

I agree with you about clipmenu. But I have been going crazy trying to find some help. Mostly about deleting one item at a time, or even more than one item, but not the whole history. I have been playing around with clipmenu, and searching… Got an answer for me? Thanks, Art

Hmm i’ve never had the need to do that.. but just tried.. if you bring up the dialog then press Control and click on the one you wan to delete it brings up another menu you can choose to delete that one entry…

Thank you for this but how about more help?
I’m new to clipMenu and while I can see it’s uses (eventually, if I ever get help with it) it’s maddening because there is no readily accessible help. Can you past all the entries at once? Or several? How? What are snippets as opposed to other items? Can you delete several items at once?. Where can one find comprehensive information about the program so that us simpletons can use it?
