And this is one of the lighter parts of this designer’s critique:
Over time, however, Dribbble transformed from what it was in those early days to what it is now: A glorified sandpit for icon designers where all the cool kids sit in one corner stroking each other’s genitals while simultaneously throwing sand at everyone else.
It’s too bad to see such a neat idea apparently morph into a clique. I’ve seen this happen on numerous occasions and there’s not much to be done.
But a good network recovers and I feel a number of social networks go through this “phase” and then grow out of it in time. Some can’t stand it and leave and others weather the storm and move on.
Regardless, there’s one thing that is certain: The internet has a very short-term memory.
