I recently made the jump from Nikon gear to Canon gear largely because I was going to start doing more video and at this time, Canon has the edge in that area.
The Canon 5D Mark II has become the premier choice when working with DSLR video. It’s a full frame (the sensor captures the entire frame whereas a “crop” sensor cuts off some of the image) camera that produces amazing footage. At a price of $2500, you get the quite the bang for a buck.
Last year, the season finale of the television show ‘House’, was shot almost entirely with the 5D MK II.

3 guys, 44 days, 11 countries, 18 flights, 38 thousand miles, an exploding volcano, 2 cameras and almost a terabyte of footage… all to turn 3 ambitious linear concepts based on movement, learning and food ….into 3 beautiful and hopefully compelling short films….. = a trip of a lifetime.
