I have a love/hate relationship with web cams.

Chip talked a lot about sound and camera settings, but in my opinion, the most frequently ignored part of the webcam is the lighting. We’re usually facing the computer, which is up against a wall, and the main source of light in the room is illuminating the white wall behind us, leaving our faces underexposed. Bounce a desk light off the wall behind the computer and maybe turn off the overhead light for a more pleasant look. A good camera can make pictures in a bad situation, but good lighting makes any camera look better.

Wally,
Thanks a lot for this. I totally agree. Lights, camera and then action. I will surely include that tip in my next video.

Chip, can you lock exposure on that cam? I do two shows against a white background and my cam tries to expose for the background, making me dark (and I’m not normally). I’ll looking for solution that I can stream, but that I can also control and haven’t found it yet.
Chip Dizard says
Paul,
It’s not the web cam, but on the software you can lock exposure. I really suggest you give it a look because you can do so many things with it.
