I love Kickstarter, a website designed to showcase awesome projects that need a little bit of help to get off the ground.
Seeing as I know for a fact that there are a large number of coffee fans hanging out around here, I thought I would show you a sweet project that is being supported in a big way over at Kickstarter right now.
Coffee Joulies is a project to make sure that your coffee the right temperature. You put the Coffee Joulies in with your coffee and they quickly cool the coffee down to the right temperature by absorbing the heat. When the coffee is down to a perfect drinking temperature it is then kept at that temperate by the heat that the Coffee Joulies have obsorbed. The designers claim that the Coffee Joulies will keep your coffee at a good drinking temperature for twice as long as you would normally expect!
I don’t quite understand how it works, but as far as I am concerned it is pretty fascinating! They have already raised over 10x the amount of support that they need to get the project off the ground, so they should have no problem moving things into production quickly.
There is still an opportunity for you to support the project and make a preorder for the first batch. All you have to do is pledge to support the project on the Coffee Joulies Kickstarter page.
It’s just $40 to order your own personal set of 5 Coffee Joulies, with other options going upwards from there including a $500 “Coffee Shop Pack” for coffee shops and entrepreneurs who want to be among the first to stock and sell this new product!
I think that this is a really practical product and something that I could really see myself using. I especially believe that as I personally am a tea lover, especially green tea, but when I am out and about it is normally served piping hot, which is never good for the roof of my mouth!
Can you see yourself using a product like this? Who is signing up for a pre-order?

I am very interested in this. But $40!?! I have a $100 coffee pot and buy good coffee. But $40 to make sure it stays the right temp?
I do think it is interesting that BoingBoing talked about it and it was funded at 10x the amount in one day. The web can be a great tool for fundraising if you can get the right people to pay attention.

It looks like they will last though, you could certainly see them as an investment.

I love it. I’m going to look into buying coffee joulies. I’m a coffee lover and an engineer. This fascinates both of those identities. Wow.
