For the past few days we’ve covered Coda 2 tips, tricks and secrets and more Code 2 tips, tricks and secrets.
In keeping with the pattern, today we’re going to review even more Coda 2 tips, tricks and secrets.
Not the cleverest of titles, I know, but it gets the point across.
Here we go:
1. Add Bookmarks in Your Code
Remember the quick Code Navigation from yesterday (#4)?
You can add your own custom bookmarks!
In addition to the HTML elements, you can add your own bookmark on any line.
/* !Page start */
Or, single-line-comment style:
// !Bookmark
It’ll then show up as a bookmark in the Code Navigator:
Mmmm. I’m going to be having some fun with this.
2. Jump to Line
Instead of scrolling to a particular line of code, just jump straight to it!
You can also use ⌘⇧L.
😀
3. Browse CSS Styles Inline
Here’s another cool feature I had no idea it existed!
When you’re adding a style declaration press, ‘esc.’
Go ahead.
I dare you.
When I first saw this, I immediately opened up Coda 2 to try it out.
It’s awesome!
4. Quick Wrap
This is another time saver. One of those options you can get addicted too really fast.
Select/highlight any text/code you want wrapped in a tag, and do one of the following:
- Choose ‘Text’ > ‘Wrap in Tag’ from the menu
- Right-click > select ‘Wrap in Tag’
- Press ⌘<
Here it is in action:
It defaults to the ‘div’ tag, so if you want to wrap it in something different, just type it.
5. Blockedit Multiple Lines
Like the Quick Wrap, this tip is going to speed up your editing.
Hold the ‘Option’ key while dragging a text selection.
Now, anything you type within that selection will be applied to all lines:
When you’re done, hit ‘esc’ and you’re golden.
Panic hints that they hope to add more with this feature in the future.
I’m hoping that by doing a few everyday, these tips will be easier to digest and become part of your regular workflow.
More tomorrow?
