Ever since the Automatic WordPress Backup broke, I’ve been on the hunt for a good backup system.
I found one plugin that was really close to getting the job done, but would crash when backing up larger blogs. This was a dangerous solution, since I had no idea if the backup file was bad unless I tried to open it. This is a situation you never want to find yourself in:
Your server died, and by the way, your backup is toast, too.
Besides, ideally I want to backup my entire server. Not all the sites I host are built on WordPress, so a plugin doesn’t quite do the trick, anyway.
Diving a little deeper into things, I found a few options.
They were rsync and cronjobs.
Now, before you get too excited and think I’m about to unleash a tutorial on how to set these up, think again. What I am going to tell you about is a very promising service that integrates with your Dropbox account.
Backup Box
Backup Box will securely transfer anything on an FTP server to your Dropbox without having to install anything.
Oh, and the best part — it’s automated!

oooooooh – this look sl ike it could be interesting.
I’d like to see how it handles the Sermons folder on my church web server – all 5.9Gigs of it!
Also keen to see if there is an option to not zip files.
