A recent study done by Synovate Young Asians Survey showed that nearly 25% said that they could not live without the internet.
Although it may sound funny to some, I wonder how many people I know who would be honest enough to admit that they would struggle without it…
I know I would. I especially would since it’s how I make a living, it’s what I do. It’s all I’ve done in terms of my career.
If the internet disappeared, would the God I know, love, and serve be big enough to find another vocational passion for me to pursue?
What about you?

I can't imagine. Really, and I wasn't actively using a browser until my senior year of college ('95) and didn't own my first computer until after I graduated from college.

The answer is: Of course. "…with God all things are possible." – Matthew 19:26
Would it be easy? Of course not. I still have my first Yahoo email address. jayc28. I'm now 38, going on 39 so do the math as my id was my age at the time. For many, the Internet has become a necessity instead of a luxury just like the telephone before it and I put myself in that group. My Internet service goes down at home for more than 15 mins and I start getting the shakes, so yeah, it would be really hard, but God would definitely take care of us and use our talents elsewhere.

I'll be honest…without the internet I would go crazy!
Ancoti says
Can I live without the internet, yes, but life would be more difficult because I have integrated it into my life. It would take some time to adjust and make sure things were not falling through the cracks of an already cracked life.
human3rror says
yeah. it would take a bit of detox…

I would exchange life without the internets for a nice lodge in the wooded mountains of the Pacific Northwest. Certainly God could broker that exchange?
Jim says
i live in a nice lodge in the wooded mountains of the PNW
Aaron says
That wasn't a cheap-shot at folks in the PNW. I'm very familiar with the Seattle area, so I'm well aware of the the geek population in the area. What I was simply attempting to (poorly) convey is that I believe that area is one of the most beautiful in this nation and I'd be willing to sacrifice my interwebs access for accommodations out there.
Although I work for a company that has a large presence out there, they aren't willing to pay me the steep cost-of-living increase (approximately 30%) to relocate me from Atlanta to Seattle. Frankly, that's what it would have to take to get me to pick up shop and move.
human3rror says
cost of living… ugh.
Jim says
i was just excited that you described my house, but thanks for caring. i live about 45 minutes north of portland,or it's a lot cheaper here than in seattle.
Aaron says
Tell me about it.
Aaron says
Yet still MUCH MORE expensive than the < 45min north of Atlanta, where I live.
Ron_Tuffin says
I'd have to find something else to do with my time.
