I shared this word today in a meeting and half the people laughed and the other group were obviously puzzled.
For those that aren’t aware, it’s an actual word:
A Netizen (a portmanteau of Internet and citizen) or cybercitizen is a person actively involved in online communities.
I mean, if it’s in Wikipedia it’s real, right?
Thoughts about the word “Netizen”? Do you use the term?
Chris Hill says
I think so. I participate in net community conversations, I own property (urls), and I read ads (pay taxes).
PhillipGibb says
I don’t use the word, but I understand it.
Am I a good netizen? I do not know. By what measurement?
Some level of participation in a community that contains 2 or more levels of feedback without being spammy?
Adam Lehman says
I just say citizen of the internet. Communicates what I’d hope for others in their online interaction.
