Apprise is a tiny (5kb full version, 3kb mini version) alert alternative which is open source and ready for you to download!
From the Apprise website:
Apprise is sexy. An alert alternative for jQuery that looks good. Apprise is a very simple, fast, attractive, and unobtrusive way to communicate with your users. Also, this gives you complete control over style, content, position, and functionality. Apprise is, more or less, for the developer who wants an attractive alert or dialog box without having to download a massive UI framework.
If this is your thing then get more information and download at the Apprise website!
Boom!

Apprise looks really nice!
However, there is one thing it doesn’t do: act as a direct drop-in for alert/confirms in existing code, primarily because (like all alert/confirm replacements I’ve seen) it uses callbacks to run code after a response, rather than being asynchronous and blocking. Obviously, that’s because the callback solution is better–but that doesn’t help me rewrite piles of legacy code. 😀
I’m reasonably certain a drop-in replacement isn’t possible on (most) JS implementations. Anyone know differently?
