Apple’s Sappy Holiday Ad Versus Reality

December 24, 2013

If you haven’t seen this holiday ad from Apple, than you should. It really is heartwarming and does a great job making you feel good about that Apple purchase you may have made this year.

Considering how much criticism surrounds people having their nose stuck in their mobile device, it certainly sheds light on a dimension that hardly anyone thinks of. Apple does such a good job with this ad, it makes those that keep their nose buried in their mobile device look like they are the sweetest people and earth.

Take a look:

Ah.

Wasn’t that sweet?

But let’s be serious, how often does this happen? From a marketing perspective, it’s brilliant. It takes scenes that many parents of teenagers see day in and day out — and is usually viewed negatively — and brings a heartwarming punchline at the end.

What are the chances people are editing holiday videos during Christmas instead of checking Facebook?

Someone on another blog pointed out that he is actually filming vertically :/. However the final video comes out in the proper horizontal format.
