We shant. We’ll be manning the technological turrets here: http://catalystbackstage.com. However, we will be intermittently visiting the blogger lounge areas. So keep your eyes on the tweets and don’t be afraid to receive a hug.

Cool man, but Id hate to bring it up but recently Zondervan had to apologize from using a ninja as a marketing gimmick. Here is a link to the letter http://profrah.wordpress.com/2009/11/20/joint-letter-to-zondervan/. It seemed liked it was a pretty big deal – they pulled an upcoming book.

Sam:
If you read through the comments on Prof. Rah’s blog from back then, you’ll see I was active and engaged in that heartfelt and lengthy discussion.
My take away from that whole conversation was that the core grievance had little to do with the action, and everything to do with the context. In other words, it had little to do with using Asian cultural icons in a fun way, and everything to do with using them in an insincere way while writing a book on Christian integrity.
Around here we aim to resource the Church with technology. Consequently, the culture we are most concerned with respecting, representing, and even sometimes reaching, is the modern day online/Internet/geek/netizen culture. And they feel passionately about 2 things: pirates and ninjas.
We had to take sides, Sam. It wasn’t optional. And given that our leader is an Asian man himself in real life (not just his avatar), the choice between ninja and pirate was pretty much made for us.
I got a bit silly towards the end, please don’t discount the first half because of the second.

Im glad you guys thought about it. Im still not sure if I would have made the same decision, but Im glad that you made a thought out one. I just would have gone a different design route in general.
