I used Windows for many, many years before I switched to Apple.
One of the first things I had to figure out how to do, was showing hidden system files. Sometimes I need to see them when configuring an app, but usually when I need to find a web development file that is hidden by default.
With Windows, this is fairly easy to do. By opening your Control Panel, you can jump into your Folder Options and toggle back and forth between ‘Show hidden files’ and ‘Don’t show hidden files’ under the View tab.
But for the Mac?
UnHidden
Unhiding your hidden files can be made super-duper easy on your Mac. By installing UnHidden — a free app — you can toggle back and forth really easy. Since I use Alfred, pulling up UnHidden is just a quick keystroke away.
Now when I need to unhide some files in Finder, I just open it up, unide—do my tweaking—put them back into hiding, and then close UnHidden.
Simple. Quick. Easy.
