For years, I used the Tweet Old Post plugin for WordPress. It was a great way to re-use older posts and give them a chance to be seen again. It’s easy to get lost in the stream of Twitter messages, so retweeting older blog posts is a great way to breathe more life into your blog.
However, there are two things that I’ve found problematic with Tweet Old Post:
- The plugin was redeveloped, became bloated, and was causing errors.
- It was only for Twitter.
Facebook and Google+ isn’t hammered as hard as Twitter, but these social networks also deserves to see some of those stellar posts that have been written in the past.
Thankfully, CoSchedule makes all of this possible!
CoSchedule’s New Feature
Since I started using CoSchedule, I have systematically setup re-shares of every blog post, eliminating the need for any kind of social media old post plugin. But what about older posts that have done well on social media in the past? Aren’t they worth an extra mention further down the road?
CoSchedule has added a new feature—they’re always adding new features—that makes it super easy-peasy to share old posts like this.
Share Top Posts
CoSchedule doesn’t just randomly reshare older content—nor would you want it to. You must be deliberate and intentional with your social media and not vomit all your content all the time. The world of social media is far too noisy for that.
Instead, what you’ll want to do, is use CoSchedule’s new Share Old Post feature. By simply creating a new message in your CoSchedule admin, you can click the ‘Share Old Post’ button and find what you want to reshare. You can sort by top posts—of all time or recent—or you can search for a specific post that comes to mind.
Sure, it’s not automated, but I like that.
We have enough bots on the Internet creating noise. Thanks to CoSchedule, it’s easier to re-share content that’s struck a nerve with your audience in the past, a metric that was never easy to figure out and execute in the past.
CoSchedule is a subscription based premium WordPress plugin, but when you consider how helpful it is, it’s almost like having a social media assistant for your blog content.
