Jim Yurchenco, engineer of the original Apple mouse, says that one of the most important things a good designer does, is:
“Exercise a large amount of self criticism.”
But it doesn’t stop there. You also need to be willing to do this over and over again.
He has a lot of other inspiring things to say, too:
“Practice your craft at a high level.”
I love how he defines ‘don’t be afraid to fail.’ We hear that all the time and I think it’s lost its meaning; if not fully understood. He says that if you fail and learn from the results, it’s not a failure, but a learning experience.
