I’ve been looking for a lot of productivity-related applications for the iPad and I finally found a Google Docs app that’s been doing a great job: Memeo Connect.
Besides being very pretty to look at, it provides a seamless integration and sync with your Google Documents:
- Automatically syncs with Google Docs to keep your documents up to date
- View all your Google Docs files including MS Office, Apple iWorks & PDF documents – even view photos and videos
- Easily scroll and zoom Google Docs for easier reading
- Read offline to keep productive while you are on the go
- Works with Google Docs Standard, Education and Premiere edition users
I would say the only downside (which could be significant for some) is that you can’t edit the documents through the app. But, if you’re not too worried about that, then check it out.

From what I can tell (not having an ipad myself), is that the ipad seems designed to not be able to use with productivity apps. Chris Anderson destroyed Keynote in his review http://www.tuaw.com/2010/04/09/five-ways-keynote-for-the-ipad-badly-misses-the-mark/
From what I gather from the dropbox support forums, it is not possible given the current file structure to download a file from dropbox, edit it and upload it. Because the file structure has the iwork apps walled off.
Every use case that I look at (I really have been trying to talk myself into buying one) when I look into it, there is something wrong. Numbers will not export to any file format except PDF. Dropbox won’t really work the way that I want to use it (at least now). It would make a fine ereader, but I already have a kindle.
I am still willing to be shown wrong though if someone has some good work arounds 🙂

Does anyone know if the Quickoffice App that I use to edit Dropbox/Google documents on the iPhone work with the iPad?
