Think back to the last time you remember truly being a kid. It may be hard for me to describe what “being a kid” really means, but after a few minutes of daydreaming, I am sure you can come up with something. Maybe it involved football or baseball practice. Maybe you were the bright artist or poet of your elementary school. For some, being a kid simply meant not having responsibilities and commitments every day beyond doing your chores and homework.
Remembering what it means to be a kid could also include all of those “silly” fantasy games we might play like “don’t step on a crack” or “hot lava.” Oh the good ole’ times! The people over at Follow The Foot have created a fantastic video that brings some of those games to life with a little creativity and After Effects skill.

Let That Inner Child Live On!
Some people would say that that inner child is actually a waste of time. In fact, the idea of reflecting on that video or our past would simply be a waste of time. You know those guys, suits, cold-hearted, not a family man. Yet, it is that very inner child that allows for creativity to come to the front. It is what spurs on innovation in the web and tech worlds. And for many of us, it is the passion to do amazing things with less-than-amazing materials.
Not only would I encourage you to continue pursuing those inner dreams, but Jesus says we must have that child-like innocence.
“And he said: ‘I tell you the truth, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven…'” (Matthew 18:3)
Our souls need that joy, so thrive in it!
How To Not Kill The Child In You
Step out of your comfort-zone from the day to day life and do something your child-self would have done. Ride your bike with ball cards in the spokes, play ninjas with your children, or have tea with all of your childhood friends. Instead of going to another worthless seminar or staying late at work, take your spouse on a date and revisit all of those amazing stories as if it were the first time. Go out with your children to a local ballgame or bowling.
The creativity will rise and hopefully your joy in life will as well.
As Ferris Bueller said,
“Life moves pretty fast. If you don’t stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.”
What is your favorite childhood memory?

Hi Jeremy!
I manage the content for the Orange Leaders blog (www.orangeleaders.org) and I really like this blog for one of our “Friday Faves” posts. Would you allow me to repost this blog and link back to you? Whatever copyright info or bio info you’d like, I could include that too.
Thanks so much!
