I don’t if these guys had too big of a TV to fully enjoy some nice retro 8-bit action, or wanted to give these pixels another 20-plus years of game life.
Either way, it’s an interesting concept.
Two researchers, Johannes Kopf from Microsoft and Dani Lischinski from The Hebrew University, put together an algorithm that depixelizes 8-bit games into smooth looking updated game art.
This is the result:

I think this would be a cool thing to do with old game releases, giving players an option to play original or depixelized.
