Are we living in a simulation? Is this simply the Matrix where we are not actually here?
Elon Musk thinks so, and this actually has some implications with our faith.
Check out the video after the jump to see what all Elon Musk said about this conversation and then we will get into the conversation afterwards.

The Limitations
First, there are a lot of limitations simply with how he came up with this thesis. Elon states that in the last 70 years, we have had a ridiculous amount of progress with technology and that he posits we will eventually have to be able to simulate life in general that would be able to run some version of a mass “The Sims” video game that controls billions of artificial reality. He does acknowledge that there probably will be a limit to this advancement, but he states it will be far into the future.
Says who? Who’s to say that limitation he believes is in 10,000 years isn’t 1,000 years, 100 years, or 10 years? Further, he disregards all catastrophic outcomes that could set us back technologically, external limitations of silicon, or other precious resources, or any number of corruptions like government or hacking that could simply make it impossible for us to advance any further.
I mean, I’m not against worldwide video games in Virtual Reality that could give a familiar simulation feel, but it’s not what is being proposed here.
The concern that comes out of this discussion is how Vox summed up the creators of this proposed simulation.
“If we are in a simulation, then there exists some higher-level being — albeit very different from an all-powerful, benevolent one.”
Not only does this go against the Christian belief of God, it actually is very much a hedonistic, agnostic, prideful mentality, it also demonstrates the whole driving force for such thought. One with this belief simply dismisses God as a possibility and instead goes towards something full of fallacies inherently.
Elon actually notes this on a 2013 SoulPancake video where the question/response happened.
Rainn Wilson: “Can science and religion coexist?”
Musk: “Probably not.”
There is so much more theologically we could get into with this, but I want to leave it here for discussion.
