A church website is the perfect communication tool for every church to have. For those new to your community or want to know more before they go to one of your worship services, your website is their first impression of you. Without it, all they have to rely on are Google Local search results of your church which is little to go on. We want to help you get the best church website option for you, so here are four results you can use.
Four Options For Your Church
Whether you are a church that has a lot of time and creativity to put into a website but no technical know-how or a church that is willing to put the money into the website and keep it up to date, we have an option for you. There is no free choice, but some of these are better than others for certain situations and we have given you the costs as well as who should look into these websites.
WordPress
Cost: $100 initial and $20/month
WordPress is the self-hosted option that you use to upload your website. You will need someone with technical know-how to create the website, but then you do not need anyone afterwards. If you would like someone great to step it up, I would recommend Dustin Stout who will be able to set you up with a great website for you to use. For others that want to try it on your own, I would recommend looking at WP for Church that has themes and plugins specifically for churches.Clover Sites
Cost: $1,000 and $20/month
Clover Sites is a quick and simple website company geared to help churches set up an easy website and offer support whenever needed. They are a quality company that has made many churches happen and all you have to do is worry about the content that you are posting instead of all of the techno babble. The downside is that their sites are flash based and unfortunately that can cause problems for viewers.FaithHighway
Cost: $500 and $25/month (with other tiers)
For those that do not like the initial steep cost that you have with Clover Sites. You can have much of the same options and not have to worry about the flash website concern. The site is flexible and little worry after everything is set up well. The biggest downside is that their base cost at $500 only has the barebones and the higher tiered options are actually better for churches that need more to their website or may have high traffic expectations.Build Your Own
Cost: $20/month
I only put this option on here to cover all of my bases. If this is your best option, you are probably only reading this as part of research to find the best information out there. You have the skills to make something great so go out there and do it. Want some website ideas? The ministries and about sections of a church website are the most visited, make those clear, visually appealing, and informative with theological details. You may also want to consider having a place with a live stream and podcast of the sermons for people to download for later use.
What church website option do you use? For those that have their website up and running, share it so we can see what a great church website looks like!

We have been using BridgeElement (similar to Clover at half the cost) and are in prices if switching to Squarespace

Those are great options as well. What are your thoughts on them?

Don’t know much about them so I definitely cannot recommend them. Somebody may look good on paper and then not deliver with customer support, the fine details, or hidden fees. So at this point, I would have to just have them on my radar and nothing more.

While faithHighway may be a good option for some churches, we had a terrible experience with them and if you do a little bit of Googling will find many with similar sentiments. Overpriced, and under delivered. Would highly reccomend against using them.
