If you’ve been around us for a while you’ve noticed that we really like 37signals products like Basecamp and their book Rework, etc.
And so when they announced the other day that they were releasing an iPad app I had to check it out…
And, I did. I laughed. Then I commented:
…
Sure, it looks neat but the features are really limited.
But, it does integrate with Campfire… … … oh wait, Campfire sucks.
Doh!
Campfire is the only service that we don’t really use as a team.
I’m a little disappointed. I mean, look what Jared did with another sketch program a little while back…! And it costs 2 bucks cheaper!
A little disappointed, I must admit.

I definitely think this should be a free app.. especially since you have to pay for campfire.. which does suck.
I see what they are trying to do here though. like in their book ReWork they talk about just getting an idea together, using a fat sharpie and doing super rough sketches.. so the details don’t matter.. that’s the only plus I see with this. but you could use adobe ideas (free) and get the same effect..

If you don’t like campfire, what group chat application do you use?

yammer FTW

Interesting, thanks!

The term “Expensive” is a bit relative. Just because $10 is high in the brave new App Store economy doesn’t make it expensive for someone who might get a lot of use out of it. I appreciate the lack of 5 pages of settings. The app does what it says, probably works well, and costs what I would bill for 15 minutes of design work. If I had the need I’d buy it. I see this app and Autodesk Sketchbook as completely different apps with different customers.
