Thats right! According to the Yankee Group 27% of apps downloaded last year were paid apps.
I think that is pretty good news for the mobile development industry!
These figures are pretty surprising, I’m sure that most people would expect the paid-for app market share to be a lot lower.
These figures are expected to grow over the net few years, and by 2015 experts are expecting that paid-for apps will account for 32% of app downloads. Experts expect this growth mainly to come from more flexibility in making payments for apps. Currently you need either some kind of online account or a credit card to purchase apps, however slowly carriers are introducing app payments via carrier billing, which will make payments easier for thousands of smartphone users.
