Adding, editing and displaying social icons on your WordPress blog has never been this easy and looked this good!
Developed by the most excellent Tom McFarlin, WP Social Icons comes in two different flavors and a heap of options:
- 29 social networking icons in both 16×16 and 32×32 variations.
- The ability to upload your own custom icons.
- Fields for specifying unique URLs and tooltips for each of the icons (both standard and custom)
- An easy way to switch between the large and small icons
- Link options for opening your social networks in a new tab and/or marking the links as nofollow
- An optional, customizable title to display above the widget
- Configuration options for displaying the icons horizontally or vertically
- Flexible ways to display the tootip – above, below, or on either side of the icon
- An optional fade effect that can be applied to icons when the mouse hovers over them
- White and black variations of the tooltips
- Custom.css file for adding even more customization to the widget
This is a basic example of how it looks on your site:
Remember the bit about a lot of options?
Yeah.
It has’em:
What a different icon or you’re a part of some exclusive network that isn’t listed?
No problem.
Upload your custom social icon:
WP Social Icons even comes with a user guide!
The two flavors include:
- Standard
$4 – a single download with no access to the support forums. - Premium

Thanks Matthew – noted. It’s a single page site with almost nothing but static content on it. Not sure what’s up.
Anyway, I’ll take a look.

It’d be great if the WP Social Icons site said exactly which 29 social networks it had icons for. I clicked on a few links trying to find that information, but couldn’t find more than a partial list.

Andres – awesome feedback. Thanks! I’ve updated the homepage, documentation, and demo site to list what’s included.
Out of the box, the plugin has: LinkedIn, Flickr, Email, DeviantArt, Dribble, Posterous, YouTube, Facebook, Stack Overflow, Google+, RSS, Skype, Digg, FourSquare, Forrst, Twitter, Vimeo, LastFM, and GitHub.
Appreciate the feedback!

I looked again, but haven’t found the full list yet. The lists I saw mention 19 services, not 29. Am I missing something?
Sorry to give you a hard time, Tom. (They’re neat icons, though. Is there one for Hacker News?)
